Individuals who suffer from Bipolar Disorder experience extreme highs in periods of mania and extreme lows when in a depressive episode. This leads them to behave in ways that can be extreme and inconsistent. Bipolar Disorder is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed in the the psychology field. The result is that many individuals, who are suffering from the disorder, are not receiving appropriate treatment. This webinar will provide a comprehensive definition and description of the symptoms associated with Bipolar Disorder. You will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms and effectively diagnose various types of Bipolar Disorder.

This webinar will describe an innovative approach that integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Social Rhythm Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral interventions to treat clients who are struggling with Bipolar Disorder. You will learn how to apply the six core ACT processes to help individuals with Bipolar Disorder manage their symptoms and live a more balanced life. The webinar will describe specific tools and strategies to utilize with clients to help them act according to their values regardless of their mood state. Experiential exercises and interventions covered will include self as context, mindfulness, behavioral activation/deactivation, mood tracking, values clarification, defusion, and emotion exposure.
