SchemACT to Treat Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse

Grounbreaking Approach to Healing From Narcissistic Abuse

Integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy to Treat Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse

Narcissistic abuse is often easier to recognize and diagnose when the individual who has narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is an overt/grandiose narcissist because these behaviors and strategies are overt, blatant, and more obvious to observe. But when you’re dealing with a covert/vulnerable narcissist it becomes much more challenging to recognize and identify the abuse because the strategies that the covert narcissist uses are much more insidious and subtle.

Covert abuse is hidden, it utilizes a calculating approach to target people secretly and create divisions in order to maintain control. Strategies of covert abuse include gaslighting, triangulation, guilt, confusion, denial, accusations, threats, and reverse victim offender.

This webinar will show you how to help clients who are struggling with covert abuse. Whether the client is struggling with a family member, a romantic relationship, or an organization this webinar will teach you how to recognize the signs of covert narcissism and how to teach clients to use empathic confrontation with the narcissist in their life and utilize tools from nonviolent communication to set appropriate limits, boundaries, and consequences in order to protect themselves.

You will gain an understanding of how individuals with NPD think and how to identify the function of their behaviors so that you can predict their next move and respond accordingly. You will learn skills to teach your clients how to respond to covert abuse in an effective and strategic way.

This workshop is designed to help you:

1. Understand the underlying schemas of individuals with narcissistic and codependent traits.

2. Apply the six ACT processes to help survivors of narcissistic abuse.

3. Utilize non-violent communication to help victims of abuse learn assertiveness skills.
